Illegal amount collected by HR manager of EJADAH in Dubai
Kathmandu: There is an agreement between Nepal and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to send workers at zero cost. UAE is an employer country while Nepal is a labor supply country. An agreement has been reached between the two countries that they will not have to pay any price for taking workers from Nepal.
Despite the agreement between the two countries to take workers at zero cost, a human resources manager working in a company in Dubai has been found to be taking workers illegally by charging money. A company based in Nepal has informed that the human resources manager of EJADAH Asset Management Group LL. in Dubai takes a bribe of 5,000 dirhams per person for bringing security guards from Nepal.
Suraj Kayastha, who had given the tender after receiving a request for a security guard from Dubai-based EJADAH Asset Management Group, has informed aajakonews.com that he has handed over 4 to 5 lakh rupees to the Nepal-based agency. Informing that the government has made a bilateral agreement with Dubai that if any worker from Nepal is taken to Dubai in such a way, the government has to take them to Dubai at zero cost.
Similarly, Gopal Khadka, who is going to work as a security guard in the same company, has also said that he has handed over the same amount of 4 to 5 lakhs to the agency of Nepal. According to Khadka, the agency of Nepal had to pay a bribe of 5,000 dirhams per person to the HR manager of the EJADAH company and some of the remaining amount was taken by the local agency for the service and the agency of Nepal said that they kept the remaining amount.
A monthly salary of around 79 thousand 200 Nepalese rupees will be received for this work which will be 12 hours duty. For this work, which does not have overtime facilities, Nepalese workers have paid 4 to 5 lakhs as a lump sum. Which is absolutely illegal. According to the labor agreement between the UAE and Nepal, the agencies of the Nepalese government have become silent observers even when money is collected illegally from the Nepali workers due to the fact that workers have to go from Nepal at zero cost.
It is understood that the EJADAH company located in Dubai is not aware of the fact that their HR manager is secretly collecting 5,000 dirhams per person from the agency in Nepal. It has been found that after the change of HR manager in the company which was supplying workers from another company in the past, the agency of Nepal was changed and so much money was collected from the workers.
The high officials of the Ministry of Labor are also upset about the fact that large amount of money is being collected from the workers contrary to the labor contract.A senior official of the Ministry of Labor gave a brief response to aajakonews.com and said, "We do not know who is charging where and how much money. If there are any complaints, we will take legal action." According to that official, a complaint will be made immediately about the HR manager of the company who is personally doing illegal work.
